leaving argentina, wah

we fianlly had to leave argentina, as we have to be in rio de janeiro by august 8th for tanmoy's arrival. i usually travel very quickly - i prefer to spend one or two days max in any one city; i like to keep moving - with very few exceptions, and those places i usually end up going back to one day.  argentina as a whole i would gladly go back to, and spend a long time traveling slowly. i loved the entire country - first of all, it was somewhere in the north of this country where we finally un-thawed our freezing extremeties. it's warm! second, fantastic wine that is fantastically cheap. and they drink it for breakfast. third, rumors of vegetarians having a hard time in this meat-hungry country are untrue. we had some pretty fantastic gnocchis and raviolis and breads across the country, including in little towns in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night. you'd have a hard time finding a place here that doesn't have a whole italian menu. argentines even speak with a bit of an italian accent. with a $4 bottle of tasty malbec and comfort italian food i definitely found my happy place in south america. anyway, it finally had to come to an end, at the spectacular iguazu falls. we stopped at a supermercado to get wine, olives, cheese and bread, and took our picnic lunch to the falls. the iguazu falls are massive, 80 meters high. it's better to just show you the pictures. we also made animal friends, as we always do. after a day at the falls, we finally left argentina for paraguay. that'll be the next episode.  pictures!:

they seemed friendly enough, but they really only just wanted our vino, and to get their butts scratched. then they left.

under the falls!
